Dead Bird that was Probably Very Dangerous to Have in My Dryer Vent

(birdthatwasdangeroustohaveinmydryer)
This is two photos stitched together. The dryer burned my hand it was so hot. Tomorrow I'm going to unplug the dryer before I work on it, and see if I can take the back panel off and find a bird nest or some other stuff that is blocking things. If I can't fix it that way, then I guess I'll have to hire a repairman.
Normally I like birds, but not when they present a danger to me and my home.

Hard

Hard

Asian edition of 2003 album includes 3 bonus tracks 'Car Show' (feat. Big Boi), 'They Ain't Je' (remix feat. Street Katz & Woonie) & 'On My Way (After The Club)'. 16 tracks. Sony.

Jagged Edge’s fourth album may serve as a harbinger of an early-’90s revival. Back in the day, R&B harmony groups barely dabbled in hip-hop, with only minimal rapping heard on even, say, Boyz II Men’s uptempo hits. Likewise on Hard, which makes strategic nods toward a hero of JE’s Atlanta hometown (OutKast’s Big Boi, who guests on "Car Show") and the currently reborn dancehall craze ("Girls Gone Wild" features toasting by the fabulously named Major Damage) but mostly just sticks to showcasing the quartet. In fact, the title track doesn’t boast about the guys’ relative street toughness, instead noting a nearly lost opportunity for love. Most of the tracks here fit into 2 or 3 slots: happiness in love, love lost, or clubbin’. That, as well, seems like an echo of an era passed. --Rickey Wright

Ocean Floor Clean Up

Ocean Floor Clean Up

As Doris, Dave, Bill and I noodled around and enjoyed a beautiful
Mother's Day in the warm water, we noticed this young girl snorkeling
around us and making several trips with a mesh bag back to the beach.
Turns out she was collecting lots of litter from the ocean floor. Old
cans, plastic pipe, big pieces of glass, snorkel equipment, she
carried it all back to the beach, and was still busy at if for most of
the afternoon. We looked over her collection, and thanked her for her
hard work. Christina's grandparents own a condo at Ocean Front Condos
and she comes down every weekend in the summer from Miami to check on
the place. How great to see someone working hard to clean up the
environment, and no, she did not find the diamond ring that the
Steiners lost out there 4 years ago.

Floor of the High Alter, Fountains Abbey

Floor of the High Alter, Fountains Abbey

This grand platformed High Alter floor is outdoor since the area is a ruin but I was impressed with how this has survived and the detail still within it.
It's getting on for 700 years old by my reckoning (if it was part of the original floor, which I believe it was).
Looks like some new grout required in places.

Gathering

Gathering

I shot and processed this shot last weeks and stuck in the "when there is nothing else to post" file. Boy, how serendipity can spring up around us.

It's about 5:30pm Monday night. I make an easy repair to a drippy tub faucet (no sweat). Every few years you take it apart clean out the heavy water deposits and put it back together. Although this time, the 30 year old faucet has decided to crack inside the valves (plastic). A quick run to Home Depot gets laughter and advice to replace it - quickly the water is turned off to the house! Although I have done a ton of work to our house over the years and everything has been replaced by me, this time I need a plumber.

8:30pm: There is a Roto-Rooter repairman looking in bewilderment at a faucet that pre-dates him. He advises we replace it - who knows if the faucet company still exists. Great... how much and how long? Well as my wife, the plumber, myself and the faucet stand there (the Gathering), he asks which wall to destroy! AAGGHH! Apparently I never changed the tub faucets because they were the nucleus for which the house was built around.

11:00pm: After busting out the American Epress card (how about a buck for the corporate plug), the repairman leaves a very clean bathroom (he worked very cleanly) with a 36"x24" how in the shower tile. AAGGHH!

Anybody know a mediocre tile guy that can answer a bunch of tile questions.

Compulsions

Compulsions

2/52

I hate how I constantly wash my hands, am obsessed with my teeth, and have to shower after babysitting or when I feel sweaty. It consumes me, I don't see how psychology is in my future when I'm like this. I need to feel clean. It takes such an effort on my part to wear a sweatshirt to school twice in a row. I need to stop, I need help.

I wanted it darker but it actually looked good being kind of bright. The top photo was the hardest (obviously) so I only took three different shots, that shot turned out great. I'm pretty much a beast in manual mode I just need to graduate from auto white balance haha.

My summer has been consumed with babysitting and self portraits. I get so jealous of all these people who have plans... I've tried doing things with so many different people but I've hung out with one person once this entire time, it kinda sucks. And I wish we had like the end of November to the beginning of February as our vacation, not May to August, because you're stuck inside your house, pool, or in some store soaking up the ac instead of enjoying the not so harsh light and beautiful colors and perfect weather of fall... So many run on sentences but I don't even care... I sort of do but it's easier to ramble for a minute than think for ten.

From the plate:
The sanctuary of Asklepios, the great god of healing, although it underwent constant renovation, is as seen today largely in the form given it in the time of the Roman emperor Hadrian (117-138). Entered by a gateway at the end of the Roman bazaar street coming from the city the courtyard of the sanctuary (c. 110 x 130 m) was bounded on three sides by stoas and contained the old temple of Asklepios plus two smaller temples, sleeping rooms for the patients, fountains, and sacred pools. To the NW was a 3500-seat Roman theater and at the NE corner a library which served also for the cult of the emperor. On the E of the courtyard was the new temple of Asklepios constructed in imitation of the round Pantheon in Rome; to the SE corner was attached a barrelshaped "treatment center" linked to the pools in the center of the courtyard by a tunnel; and, lastly, on the SW corner was a lavish bathroom establishment.

It is already 3 months ago (my ... I can't imagine, it is just like yesterday) but this is what I remember from what Yassar told and why I took this picture.
The story : here were bunk beds with sick people. A voice spoke to the sick from above (through a tube). It was the voice of a God. The God said: "Ahmet, tell me about your problem" and then the sick person would tell and the God would give advice. It was the first form of psychological treatment.

From Wikipedia:
Sanctuary of Asclepius
Three kilometers south of the Acropolis, down in the valley, there was the Sanctuary of Asclepius (also known as the Asclepieion), the god of healing. In this place people with health problems could bathe in the water of the sacred spring, and in the patients' dreams Asclepius would appear in a vision to tell them how to cure their illness. Archeology has found lots of gifts and dedications that people would make afterwards, such as small terracotta body parts, no doubt representing what had been healed.

From another plate (like I said earlier, English is rather poor on those plates):
In the earlies construction of the holy area, there located pools and fountains around the three holy springs. Afterwards, the temples for Hygieia the daughter of Asklepios Soter (Saver Asklepios) and for Apollon (the father of Asklepios) have been constructed which could have not reach to present time. The sleeping rooms, of which only the foundations reached present time, have been constructed in Hellenistic period. Asklepieion has taken its final form with the structural developments in Roman period. We are informed about the several treatment methods from the "Hieroi Logoi" of Orator Aelius Aristides.
The applied treatment methods include accompanying the patients (with psychological problems) in the sleeping rooms to incubation and interpreting of their dreams by priest doctors (treatment with inspirational conditioning); hot, cold and mud baths (cleaning), treatment with healing herbs, diet treatments, massages with vegetable oils and creams, blood letting, emptying of the intestines and sunbathing for physical illnesses. Also, when deemed necessary, surgical operations used to be applied.
SLEEPING ROOMS: The sleeping rooms are located as surrounded by holy springs in the south, galleries in the east, and walls in the west and north directions. The patients were accompanied to sleep in special sleeping rooms (abaton) with inspringing conditioning and their dreams when awoke used to interpreted by the asklepiades (priest doctors). Such interpretations of dreams would determine the treatments to be applied.
KRYPTOPORTICUS: The patients would reach to the sleeping rooms from the lower floor of the second secular structure via a 70 m underground vaulted passage as a protection means against the adverse weather conditions. A mystic environment would generate thanks to the tranquility of the sound of water arriving from holy spring and running down the steps of the tunnel, and accordingly, it has been claimed that this tunnel had been used as a supportive treatment means.
CIRCULAR TREATMENT STRUCTURE: The treatment purposed structure has been constructed to the south-east corner of the holy area due to the increasing number of patients in Roman period. The circular structure was covered with vaults and a dome where had two storeys of which, unfortunately, the upper storey destroyed in time not reaching our times. Like in Zeus Asklepios temple, it had a great roof skylight. In the middle of existing lower storey, lies a carrying core circular structure of 18.00 meters diameter. A gallery with annular vaults and double naves travels around the core structure with reference to same centre. A sunbathing terrace is reached from a gate in the south west external part of the structure. Furthermore, small fountain pools opened as niches into the south-west direction carrying fools have been used for treatment.

Ronco Inventions ST4000 Showtime Indoor Rotisserie and BBQ

Only Basket is included!!! No Coupons or Accessories.

An inexpensive introduction to the delights of rotisserie-roasted meats and poultry, this countertop device is large enough to spit-roast two chickens, a 15-pound turkey, a leg of lamb, a rack of ribs, or six kabobs. Place the spit through the wire food basket that accompanies the rotisserie and it will rotate chicken wings, salmon steaks, or other foods through the roasting cycle. Meanwhile, place the enameled-steel steaming tray atop the rotisserie, cover with its plastic lid, and the rotisserie will steam vegetables or shrimp.
At this price, you wouldn't expect this rotisserie to be restaurant sturdy. But it's not flimsy, either. Measuring 17 by 15 by 13-1/2 inches, it delivers 1,250 watts of cooking power inside an enameled-steel case with a tempered-glass door. Three settings of the spit permit normal rotation, no-heat rotation to keep juices distributed evenly until serving, and pause-to-sear so that meats can be browned. 12 elastic ties to bind foods, a pair of heavy synthetic gloves for removing items from the unit, and $100 in coupons for other Ronco products accompany the rotisserie. Since it stars in an infomercial, the rotisserie also comes with an excellent instructional video. --Fred Brack

    brake dust
  • The fine particles created as the brake linings wear down in normal use. Brake dust usually contains dangerous amounts of asbestos

  • As you use your brakes, the brake pads throw off the brake pad material as a fine dust.  The brake dust creates a black mess, which sticks to the wheels and lower body panels.  Because the front wheels do most of the braking, brake dust is often heaviest on the front wheels.
